چکیده

over certain thin strips L in the plane are measured through x-ray transmission along L. How can we recover f(x,y)? Previous reconstruction algorithms fall into two broad categories: (a) Algorithms based on a formula, typically the Fourier inversion formula.lvE (b) Search algorithms, typically based on iterative relaxation.2,4 We have chosen a particular f(x,y), Fig. 1, felt to be a reasonable model of a section of the skull and have computed Pf(L) directly. We then compared the reconstructions of f by the various algorithms, Figs. 2-6. While all algorithms studied successfully reconstruct the position of the (denser) skull itself, interior tissue (which varies by only a few percent) was reconstructed very accurately by an algorithm of type (a), which is a modification of an algorithm proposed by Ramachandran and Lakshminarayanan.6 The best one of type (b) we could find failed to reconstruct the interior tissues. 2a. Fourier Algorithms The basis of Fourier algorithms is that if P(t,O) denotes the integral of f along the line L(t,0), i.e.

Evaluation of Tumor Control and Normal Tissue Complication Probability in Head and Neck Cancers with Different Sources of Radiation: A Comparative Study

Introduction: The ultimate goal of radiation treatment planning is to yield a high tumor control probability (TCP) with a low normal tissue complication probability (NTCP). Historically  dose volume histogram (DVH) with only volumetric dose distribution was utilized as a popular tool for plan evaluation  hence present study aimed to compare the radiobiological effectiveness of the cobalt-60 (Co...

Application of glauconite and fossil palynomorphs in reconstructing the Liassic paleogeography just before the opening of the Gulf of Mexico

Red beds, conglomerates and salt were considered azoic and problematic rocks, but Paleopalynology and Inorganic Geochemistry proved to be useful for placing them in time and space. In the early last century, in Mexican NE region, only three Mesozoic red bed units were differentiated, dated as Late Triassic to Late Jurassic. It was important tratigraphically to place them properly as they were c...

2 3 M ay 2 00 7 A nonlinearly ill - posed problem of reconstructing the temperature from interior data ∗

We consider the problem of reconstructing, from the interior data u(x, 1), a function u satisfying a nonlinear elliptic equation ∆u = f(x, y, u(x, y)), x ∈ R, y > 0. The problem is ill-posed. Using the method of Green function, the method of Fourier transforms and the method of truncated high frequencies, we shall regularize the problem. Error estimate is given.

Introducing an Optimized Method for Obtaining X-ray Diffraction Patterns of Biological Tissues

Introduction Individual X-Ray diffraction patterns of biological tissues are obtained via interference of coherent scattering with their electrons. Many scientists have distinguished normal and cancerous breast tissue, bone density, and urinary stone types using the X-Ray diffraction patterns resulting from coherent scattering. The goal of this study was to introduce an optimized method for obt...

Lateral Soft Tissue X-ray for Patients with Suspected Fishbone in Oropharynx, A thing in the past

Introduction: Fishbone is the most common foreign body found in the oropharynx. Conventionally patients with suspected fishbone in the throat would have mirror laryngoscopy followed by lateral soft tissue X-ray to look for the fishbone or observe impacts caused by the fishbone i.e. soft tissue swelling or air in upper esophagus. However, the most common site of fishbone impact is the suprahyoid...
